Jim Davies - Consultant Solicitor

Jim Davies specialises in domain name law. He also provides advice on other internet related law and intellectual property matters; as well as dealing with commercial litigation and company law matters.

Jim has represented both claimants and defendants in domain name disputes. He is a veteran of many Nominet DRS Disputes and Appeals; as well as ICANN UDRP Disputes and also related Court cases.

Recent reported matters have included the bounce.co.uk, verbatim.co.uk and ireland.co.uk DRS Appeals, the perthracing.com UDRP, as well as the ongoing dispute over the myspace.co.uk domain.

Jim has advised on a number of Formal Complaints brought against the Nominet, the .uk registry. Amongst these, he secured a public apology from Nominet in respect of the way it handled the bounce.co.uk case. This was added at the head of the published decisions in that case.

Jim's background includes studying both science and law at Cambridge, followed by a postgraduate computing course. He trained at Holborn firm Monier-Williams, where he was spent much of his time helping to secure the landmark "Elderflower Champagne" passing off Appeal Court decision. Jim left legal practice to run an IT security company, before returning to work as a consultant solicitor in the specialist field of domain name disputes and internet law.
